You can start your own OPC server on each of several personal computers. Each OPC server is an additional station on the AF 100 bus. These OPC servers are usually unaware of each other. They can handle any required area in Factory I, which may be different or the same area. MMI OPC clients can connect to these OPC servers as needed. The MMI OPC client can provide the function of selecting two OPC servers as redundant to each other. If an OPC server fails, the MMI client can automatically switch to another OPC server and continue to display values smoothly. In the case of redundant OPC servers, these two systems will cover the same area of the factory. This means that two OPC servers must select the same station in the configuration wizard dialog box of the AC 100 OPC server, filter the same data about the station in their BCD database (or the same BCD database), and have the same values for all dynamic items. Figure 20. Station filtering is a normal situation, as all dynamic values are extracted from the same set of controllers.
